Stamping Through My Bucket List
Two key elements to Warmhouse Story that fill my cup are the celebration of objects that are special to us and using them in a welcoming way to delight our guests when we all entertain. My “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve” table delivers on both elements.
I was thrilled to be contacted by Rubberstamps.com to do some making in a personal way as a featured business on their site and blog. They let me design custom stamps using my own artwork and sent me everything I would need to stamp out some lovely sentiments to welcome the new year. I used Rubber Stamps for branded designs to be applied to ribbon, wrap, notes and more. I love their quality and precision. They also result in a bit of a weathered look that is perfect for Warmhouse Story’s bit of imperfection. I had a blast creating welcome and place cards stamped on botanical silhouettes. Having your own stamps is fulfilling and I know that I will be going back for more.
The stamped cards are one example of how a table can create an emotional connection to a guest. Nested in metal place card holders, the cards give a sense of history and a nod to tradition. At the same time, the sayings and art are modern, playful, and fun. Another twist on the Warmhouse Story mix of old and new.
One of the most glorious elements on the table is a treasured Baccarat Crystal Champagne Bucket that sparkles and shines. It was gifted to me by my stepmother, Ruth, and I will cherish it always. Its simple, elegant facets and gold handles bring forth a beautiful focal element for the table. It lands in the center of a table featuring some fab 1990s metallic rimmed dinnerware and my favorite brass bubble decorated coupe glasses. All the other elements step into the chilly background of his table ready to entertain in the dark of winter.
Mixing old and new and thrift and craft make for a truly original table. What a wonderful way to celebrate the objects that are special to you and the presence of your favorite people as you ring in the new year!
