A Journey to Vulture Land

In the Drawing Room, I like to dig a little deeper.  There is no better place to dig deep than Twelve Vultures. When you enter Twelve Vultures in Minneapolis, you might find yourself stopping shortly after you walk in to take stock of all the tremendous treasures. Expressive taxidermy peeks out from here and there. Old photos tell the stories of ancestors long gone. A mix of industrial and scientific finds transport you to another time and place.

When you go, there are a few things to consider.  First, give yourself plenty of time to escape and slowly make your way through Adam Dejarlais’ collection. When Chad and I visit, we take time to enjoy as many unique objects as we can. Second, introduce yourself to Adam. Adam is friendly and warm, and he’ll help you find the many things you need and a few things that you do not (but will buy anyway).

Let me tell you about some of my favorite spots in Adam’s shop. There is a wonderfully tiered display of old flatware. I love digging through the bins and looking at the beautifully shaped and etched handles. I have built up quite the collection to date! He also has numerous serve pieces and other objects to help you set a found and historic table.

For this collaboration, Adam let me loose in his apothecary bottle collection. Go take a trip back in time to read the labels of these curious containers. Folks really knew how to live (and die) on the edge back then!

Adam is creative and knowledgeable. He is an additive person who will help you build on an idea. He has a positive energy that makes you want to stay a while. I hope that you will read this and hustle over to Twelve Vultures and enhance your spooky Halloween entertaining or add something historic to your existing home décor.

Adam, thank you for being an amazing collaborator and kind human. Cheers to you until I see you next in your fabulous castle of curiosities and treasures!
